What a show, what a cast, what a crew, what an audience!  Photo Credit: Paul Rampe  Robert Pappenhagen once again proved that with a little imagination you can turn the even the most un-theatrical setting into a live theatre. Musical accompaniment came alive through the talents of Jenny Jackson, CJ Langmack (yes - the one from DeadIron), Amy McGroarty, Bryce Schill (Sky of Chardon), and Cameron Weikart, and I'm not boasting, but for 8 weeks of rehearsal time, these kids did a phenomenal job!  Now we gear up for... Shakespeare! Not sure which show we're doing, but keep visiting the webpage and our Facebook page and we'll keep dropping hints.  Right now, it's time to clean the house, do the laundry, and maybe even catch up on some much needed sleep. Thank you to everyone who helped make this show so much fun! Photo Credit: Amy McGroarty Photo Credit: Paul Rampe
Honk is a musical retelling of the Story of the ugly duckling.  It has humor, drama, tenderness, and a sense of hope and acceptance.  In this production, Alphabet Theatre brings together a crew of 6th thru 12th grade students from 6 different school districts, to bring this story to life. Directed by Jill Pappenhagen, musical assistance from Jenny Jackson, stage managed by the fabulously faithful am Nd positively patient Laura Weikart, accompanied by Amy McGroarty, percussion from Bryce Shill, guitar by CJ Langmack, bass by Cameron Weikart, Flute by Stephanie Striegel, Reeds by Jenny Jackson; the music comes to life with the skills of these professional musicians who volunteer their time and talents to support our actors.  Professional technical theatre director Robert Pappenhagen creates magic with a shoe string budget, and costume designer Betsy Bond brings the barnyard to life in subtle ways so that you know these are animals, but they are not caricatures. Heading Into Tech Week... There's an excitement in the air.  Nerves are running high, and there doesn't seem to be enough time to fit everything into the day, much less breath.  Yup, we're heading into Tech Week.  My head is spinning and my heart is so proud I think I may literally burst.  My eyes seem to leak - frequently - at rehearsals as I watch the finishing touches, the new discoveries, the Ah Ha moments building up to that night of wonder - opening night. Are they ready?  Yes - here's the better question - are YOU? Part of building a community is to learn about the people who live in your community, to grow your empathetic skills, find out history and work for a community that supports without dividing, grows without marginalizing, and loves without reservation.  One of the reasons we choose to do shows like this, is to help kids do all this and more. With this show - we remember and honor the children of the Terezin concentration camp.  Our performance
