Honk is a musical retelling of the Story of the ugly duckling.  It has humor, drama, tenderness, and a sense of hope and acceptance.  In this production, Alphabet Theatre brings together a crew of 6th thru 12th grade students from 6 different school districts, to bring this story to life.

Directed by Jill Pappenhagen, musical assistance from Jenny Jackson, stage managed by the fabulously faithful am
Nd positively patient Laura Weikart, accompanied by Amy McGroarty, percussion from Bryce Shill, guitar by CJ Langmack, bass by Cameron Weikart, Flute by Stephanie Striegel, Reeds by Jenny Jackson; the music comes to life with the skills of these professional musicians who volunteer their time and talents to support our actors.  Professional technical theatre director Robert Pappenhagen creates magic with a shoe string budget, and costume designer Betsy Bond brings the barnyard to life in subtle ways so that you know these are animals, but they are not caricatures.

This is a musical that can be enjoyed by all ages.  Little ones will be tickled by the music and story, and more mature audiences will appreciate the tenderness and uplifting message of the play.  Everyone will leave whistling and will remember that “out there, somewhere, someone’s gonna love you....warts and all”.

There are only two shows - Friday and Saturday, November 17th and 18th, 7:30pm at Christ Presbyterian Church, 12419 Chillicothe Rd, Chesterland.  Tickets are STILL only $5 and are available at the door.

Hope to see you there!
